I Used to Have a Scarcity Mindset — Here’s How I Shifted It to Abundance
For years, I had a scarcity mindset, but I didn’t realize it.
Mine manifested as a fear of going broke and it kept me from making investments in my personal and financial growth. It wasn’t until I got fed up with my stagnate net worth and did the inner work that I realized what had been holding me back.
The first step you must take to change anything is to become aware.
But then what?
Here are the 8 steps I took to cultivate an abundance mindset:
- I reframed my negative thoughts around money and replaced them with positive ones.
- I made practicing gratitude a priority, with an emphasis on my financial blessings.
- I surrounded myself with positive, supportive people who exhibited abundance mindsets.
- I started donating money and increased the amount each month to counter my zero-sum thinking.
- I shifted my attention away from self-protection and towards self-development, learning to embrace challenges.
- I cultivated an open mind and stopped ruthlessly judging myself and others.
- I used affirmations repeatedly to solidify a new belief that there is enough for everyone.
- I stopped benchmarking and comparing my progress to that of others.
I saw and felt an immediate shift when I followed these steps. Investment opportunities, job offers, and new people came into my life. Perhaps they were always there, but my scarcity mindset kept me from seeing and seizing them.
So, if you think your mindset is holding you back, I encourage you to give these eight steps a try.
