“I am not worthy of wealth.”

True or false?

True. This is why:

Your subconscious mind believes 100% of what you tell it, even the garbage.

It won’t roll its eyes and think, “okay, whatever you say.”

The more you repeat the thought, the more engrained it becomes until it eventually serves as one of your core beliefs. Repetitive thinking, regardless of the quality of thought, builds neural pathways in your brain.

And guess what those do?

They make your behaviors habitual, automatic, and aligned with those constant thoughts.

Want to change your “truth?”.

Start by changing your thoughts.

Through the intentional adoption of better thoughts aligned with an abundance mindset, you can create new neural pathways that support more constructive behaviors. And that includes your financial decision-making abilities and money-related habits.

Many people use affirmations to retrain their brain, but critics say that you can’t possibly believe a positive statement just because you say it over and over to yourself.

But here’s the funny thing:

When you read the first line of this piece, did you automatically believe it was false? Most do.

We have a tricky relationship with the truth. Our logical brain tells us something is false, even when our subconscious mind believes it to be true. Try this: imagine having a lemon in your mouth and watch your body react as if you are literally eating one.

So where do you start?

First, notice your thoughts. Sit quietly and just observe what thoughts float by in your head. Use a prompt like “when I think about building wealth/being debt-free/having financial freedom my mind goes to…”.

Next, write down your limiting beliefs. As you identify a thought, make a note of it, but try not to judge. Being critical of your thoughts just creates more unhelpful thoughts on top of the ones you already have.

Finally, rewrite your thoughts into truthful statements. “I am not worthy of wealth” becomes “I am 100% capable of building wealth and having unlimited abundance in my life because I’m absolutely worth it!”

Now, get to building new neural pathways in your brain and see your outer world transform alongside your relationship with money.
